REPORTING PLATFORM FOR FORESTRY
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Forestry Commission acknowledges the importance of natural resource development and its contribution to GDP. The project aims at managing information in both forest reserves and off-reserve areas, adopted an integrated approach to a long-term goal of achieving sustainable development by aligning the country’s natural resource management and economic development strategies. Development of Software Suit for FSD monthly report in ON /OFF Forest Reserves will enhance information capture into a database from the range, district and region. This template for FSD monthly report covers the following
SECTION A - OPERATIONS (NATURAL FOREST)
1. Protection
This section covers boundary Maintenance by Forest Guards and Boundary Maintenance by Communities/Contract, Boundary Planting, Wildfires, Occurrence/Incident, Wildfire Management, Offences, New Offences, Impounded logs/lumber/machinery/equipment, Update of pending offences, Disposal of confiscated logs/lumber, Disposal of confiscated machinery/equipment, Payment of penalties/fines for impounded vehicles
2. Management
Management areas include Stock Survey, Check Survey – On Reserve, Pre-felling inspection – OFR, Verification – OFR, Timber Harvesting, On-Reserve, (No. of trees and volume should be generated from the SUN/GWTS), Details of trees felled (No. of trees and volume should be generated from the SUN/GWTS), Off-Reserve (No. of trees and volume should be generated from the SUN/GWTS)
SECTION B – OPERATIONS (PLANTATIONS)
1. Development
The development shows report covering Tree Seedling Nursery production, Government of Ghana - Plantation Establishment On-Reserve, Private Developers - Plantation Establishment On Reserve, Public Private Partnership – Plantation Establishment On-Reserve, Plantation Establishment – Off Reserve, Maintenance of Government Plantations On-Reserve, Maintenance by Private Developers On-Reserve, Maintenance by Public-Private Partnership Developers On-Reserve, Enrichment Planting, Maintenance of enrichment planting sites
2. Plantation Timber harvesting
On reserve, Plantation Timber harvesting - Off Reserve
3. Charcoal Conveyance Cerificates
SECTION C – FINANCE
The following should be presented in the monthly finance report; Bank reconciliation statement, Reconciliation Statement, Timber monitoring report (Accountants should always synchronize their reports with the ARMs and ADMs monitoring reports). Trial Balance
SECTION D – HUMAN RESOURCE
Human Resource report and Establishment List should be merged with details (Names, location, vacancies etc) and submitted quarterly. The Human Resource Unit should develop a standard reporting format for schedule officers to complete what is applicable to them.
SECTION E – GENERAL
These reports should be submitted as and when they occur during the month. SRA Executed, Stakeholder Engagements, Workshops Attended/Training Programmes Executed (Climate change, VPA etc), Visits, Forest extension activities carried
